For Martin’s Case, a Long Route to National Attention

Trayvon Martin a 17 year old, that was shot on February 26 in Sanford Florida by George Zimmerman. The next day his death was a top story on the Fox- affiliated television station in Orlando, the closest big city to Sanford. By the weekend it was being covered by newspaper across state, but it took some time before the rest of the country had found out. It was in mid March, after the news had been spread over face book and twitter. The Mr. Martin’s name is known as a testament to his family, which hired a tenacious attorney to pursue legal action and persuade sympathetic members of the media to cover the case. Many of the national media figures who initially devoted time to the shooting are black, which to some is a case study in the need for diversity in newsrooms.

As the case was catapulted onto the national agenda and calls for Mr. Zimmerman’s arrest increased, prominent black journalists and commentators wrote about it in highly personal terms. “This is the fear that seizes me whenever my boys are out in the world: that a man with a gun and an itchy finger will find them ‘suspicious,’ ” Charles M. Blow of The New York Times wrote on March 17. And on television, the family spoke early to the Rev. Al Sharpton, the civil rights activist who has radio shows and an MSNBC television show about the shooting by Mr. Crump that cause the death of a Florida boy at a boot camp in 2006, Rev who had previously speak out against it.

Now the Martin’s family has publicly thanked the media for paying attention, and Mr. Martin’s father told Gayle king on CBS last Friday “the world knows Trayvon now.”

Ritz Carlton Case Study (Customer Service)

In 1983, W.B. Johnson properties set out to create a luxury hotel group. Product and services were designed to appeal to the corporate travel and meeting planner, as well as other distinguish guest. After acquiring the trademark Ritz Carlton W.B. Johnson properties push forward to establish the great Ritz Carlton hotel company and launched and intense effort to assure the highest quality standards in every location throughout the world. In fact 1994 the Ritz Carlton group consisted of 25 hotels in the United States, two located in Australia and one each in Barcelona, Hong Kong, and Mexico. At the current time new hotels were planned for Seoul, Korea, Tokyo, Japan, Orlando, and Singapore. W.B. Johnson company was responsible for this development, but Ritz Carlton main focus was quite simply work and generally improving operational efficiency while continuing to find new ways to personalize service. Personalized service was Ritz Carlton hallmark however.

Ritz Carlton focuses of advancement and outstanding customer service was, to create customer driven service systems that would anticipate a guest's needs and preferences. While being capable of reacting instantly to correct any services, errors and satisfying any complaints of guest or customers. This was possible by creating two customer systems known as Encore and Covia. Customers are very essential especially within the tourism Industry likewise the employees, "we do not hire," The Ritz Carlton seek people that obtain the natural aptitude for the service business. Ritz Carlton is different from either competitors because Ritz Carlton focuses on location and style. Competitors focus on location and pride that determine success. Leadership and training assures that commitment to service values. The combination of leadership and highly standardized systems explains why they generate more revenue per available room than any other hotel.

Ritz Carlton Main Issues in the past were?

  • The implementation of customer satisfaction.

Why?

  • Well customer satisfaction was the Ritz Carlton key value of success, but they struggled to make all ends meet.

How?

  • Customer driven service systems were created to support the customer satisfaction. This information system lacks the ability of recording an account of each significant group reservation and avoiding the repeating count of guest information.

My Analysis: Ritz Carlton

Ritz Carlton highly values customer satisfaction, guest needs and preferences. That is very important factors but these standard factors were certainly not guaranteed to always be one hundred percent effective. Mistakes, delays, misunderstanding, incidents, and problems are possible to occur sooner or later.

63 Years Flying, From Glamour to Days of Gray

Ron Akana has the title of longest- serving flight attendant in the United States. Mr. Akana has worked as a flight attendant for 63 years, clocking some 20 million miles along the way, the equivalent of circling the globe about 800 times or flying roughly 40 times to the moon and back.
"people keep on telling me to apply to the Guinness Book of records," he said. " I'll let somebody else do that."
Mr. Akana is 83 years old and has just about seen it all. more than 40 percent of the roughly 110,000 flight attendants in the United States are 50 or older, according to an analysis of 2010 census data by Rogelio Saenz, a sociologist at the University of Texas, San Antonio, who has studied the changing demographics of flight attendants. Less than 18 percent are 34 or younger.

At one time, just after he turned 70, Mr. Akana was among the highest-paid flight attendants at the airline, earning $106,000 a year through a combination of pay, pension and Social Security , a situation that has earned him a “triple dipper” label by younger colleagues and airline bookkeepers.
“When I fly, it’s vacation money,” Mr. Akana likes to joke. But after flying for so many years, the idea of hanging up his sparkling wings is hard for him to fathom. He added that he would miss the people he works with, the passengers he meets and the routine he goes through for every trip, laying out his uniform and packing the night before. But now he has to say good bye, and he will be miss.

Minnesota School District Reaches Agreement on Preventing Gay Bullying

Two years after accusations that the stop of anti gay bulling and spate of student suicides had failed, Minnesota’s school district has agreed to sweep changes designed to prevent harassment based on sexual orientation. Monday night with the federal government, which has been investigating the district for civil right violations, and six students who had sued the district on charges that they had suffered unchecked harassment. For the agreement that has to be sign by a federal judge, the department of justice and education will monitor the district for five years.

Now they are having a debate nationwide for homosexuality and gender diversity to be discussed in schools. Conservation Christian groups, argue that singling out sexual orientation for protections or teaching tolerance of same sex marriage amounts to endorsing sinful practice and they do not want any part of it. But as for Anoka- Hennepin she stated that teacher should whole any question about sex orientation, and the teacher said that they are going to support the gay students as for the straight.
