Personal Post

Last class, we were talking about Jamie Tarabay, she is the manager of editing the White House and National Security & Foreign affairs for National Journal. Firstly our home work the class before that was to read up about her and also read one of her latest post, so that when we come to class we know a little about her and her writing. Me personal chose to read her post called "A Woman's Place" it was talking about how woman in Egypt didn't have a equal voice as man in journalism, and they would get sexual abuse for them to stay inside the house and out of their husband reach. Some of my other class mates read about the war in Iraq. Also we was discussing about the website called "Wiki leaks" and if we agree with it or not, Wiki Leaks is a special website were this person post up private information about the government, I said i disagree with this website not only because it is wrong to post information about the government but if you post private information the entire world is seeing this information and also our enemies. Lastly, we were talking about a up coming major assignment that we have to do in class, it was that we are not suppose to go on any social network for two weeks and see how us teenagers would communicate, knowing my self i know i am going to have a problem with this because this is the only way i communicate with my family and friends back in Jamaica because talking on the phone is a lot of expense.

A Woman’s Place

In this story, it talks about woman reporters who are form Arab that doesn’t have equal voice in story like men, also it talks about how woman in Saudi Arabia, so called conducted “scientific” reports claiming that allowing women to take the wheel would lead to a surge in prostitution, pornography, homosexuality, and divorce, also and to virginity. And in Egypt, they witnessed that country coming together for recent parliamentary elections, women were subject to beatings and detention for standing alongside male demonstrators, and the Egyptian security force would hauled off women encamped with male protesters for “Virginity tests”, and if they wasn’t a virgin they would say detention and threats of charges of prostitution.

Also it stated that most women would be harassed by sexual violence so they would stay in the house and off the streets, and won’t make trouble for their husband. And Jamie Tarabay also stated that “Attack on female journalists is nothing new. Neither I nor any of my female friends who have worked as foreign correspondents have escaped unscathed”.

Critical Analysis on Wiki leaks

I do not support the Wiki leaks and its missions; the reason for this is because you cannot have a website where you post important and secretive information about the government. They shouldn't post or publish their regardless of the material's sensitivity, because not only there are publishing important that will hurt the government occupation buy they are sending out information that other countries have easy access to. For example, the article "Judge refuses to dismiss GI's wiki leaks case" it is talking about how the wiki leaks publish a cockpit video that was made in 2007 about a U.S Apache helicopter attack that killed a number of civilians, including a Reuters news photographer and his driver, and the U.S was very upset about the whole issue and how someone would post it on the internet, and the person was charge in May 2010. I do not think that such information should be shared with the public, not then the entire world will know about the U.S. important and secrets.

School teachers become secret millionaires with Mega Millions win

Three lucky winners for the Maryland lottery for the amount of $218,600,000 . They want to keep their appearance a secret and keep working, so they are identify has the three amigos. in the article Stephen Martino, the director of the Maryland Lottery said " if it can’t be you, these are precisely the people that you would want to see win the lottery, which basically means they people work very hard to get where they are right now and it is not a easy journey. The winners in Maryland are a woman in her 20's, a man in his 40's, and a woman in her 50's and one is an elementary school teacher, a special education teacher and an administrative worker. Also, the article stated that each of the three winners will get a $35 million after taxes, because they chose to take the lump sum rather than the annual payments.
There are two other winners in the state of Kansas and Illinois, the winner in Kansas came forward last week, but chose to remain anonymous. And in Illinois, no winner has come forward, but the ticket holder has a year to do so and in that state the winners cannot remain anonymous, that's probably the reason why the person does not want to reveal them self. The winning ticket in Maryland was sold at a 7- Elven in Milford Mill, the retailer gets $100,00 for selling the winning ticket.
