Authorities: Girls 'within inches' of kidnapper who turned gun on himself

This article is about two girls that was kidnap. One girl name is Alexandra Vain and she is 12 years of age, and her sister name is Kyliyah Bain and she is 8 years of age. Both girls have witness and been through a lot, the reason for this is because in the article it stated “Thirteen days earlier, authorities say the girls were abducted from their Whiteville, Tennessee, home by Adam Mayes after he strangled their mother and 14-year-old sister. And for the last three days, Alexandria and Kyliyah had nothing to eat or drink.” Because of them not being able to eat for three days their young bodies were prone, right along with their kidnapper Mayes.

When Mayes was found with the two girls in the woods, he had a 9 mm pistol, and when one of the cops shouted out your hands up, he did and then shot his self in the head. The police then stated in the article “That single gunshot wound to the head ended a manhunt that spanned several states and involved about 24 law enforcement agencies, said FBI special agent in charge Daniel McMullen. It also captivated the nation, rocketing Mayes from obscurity to a spot on the FBI's "Ten Most Wanted" list practically overnight. And most of all, it tore apart a family, leaving two young girls motherless, but alive.”

American on hunger strike after 11 months in Bolivian prison

This article is about an American man, who was jailed without formal changes in Bolivia for 11 months, and he is nearing on month on a hunger strike to call attention to his case. This man name is Jacob Ostreicher and he is 53 years of age, he became ensnared in a criminal investigation linked to drugs money and was arrested in June of last year on a preliminary charge of money laundering. But his wife and lawyer say they have proven that the source of all the money is legitimate, and wonder if other forces are leading up to keep Mr. Ostreicher, a businessman from Brooklyn locked up. Since M.r. Ostreicher arrest there have been 15 hearing scheduled, but only three actually took place.

In mid- April, Ostreicher began a hunger strike, hoping to kick start the justice system in Bolivia as well as rally support back home. Supporters in New York held a demonstration for Ostreicher in front of the Bolivia mission there this month. And the back story of his arrest is complex. It starts with an investment that Ostreicher, an Orthodox Jew and flooring contractor, made in 2008 in a rice operation in Santa Cruz. A group of investors saw opportunity in growing rice, and though Ostreicher didn't put down a lot of money, he began traveling to Bolivia to look after the project.

Seeking justice for Haiti's rape victims

Three days after the massive earthquake in Haiti, there had been a lot of chaos going on. This issue that had been affecting a lot of women in Haiti is gang- raped. This one woman name Alvana who was a victim of rape said she was sleeping in the middle of the street when a gang of men came over and rape her and also got her pregnant. Alvana said she didn't know who the guys were and she felt depressed and unsure, later on that day she was directed to the clinic by a friend known as the KOFAVIV, it is a Creole acronym that translates into the Commission of Women Victims for Victims. They provided food, shelter, water, and prenatal care for her as she decided to keep her child, even though the psychological pain could be difficult, knowing her daughter was product by a gang raped.
Her story is, unfortunately, all too common in Haiti, said Mayla Villard- Appolon, one of KOFAVIV's co- founder. After the earthquake, the situation was inhumane and degrading, there was no security in the camps, no food, no work, and now there is a rampant problem (gang rape). This issue was going on since 2010, but after the earthquake it had gotten worst, and now the women want to put a end to it.

Critical Analysis

The article and video is not bias, the people are just speaking the truth about each issue and making it funny at the same time so it wouldn't that big of a deal. In the first video with Obama speaking he was just talking about the jokes people out there are making of him and he just finds it funny, for example when he stated that "he doesn't know why they are even having the Corresponding Dinner". Also in the second video when Jimmy Kimmel was talking the commercial before was basically talking about the disgrace on Obama and saying insulting comments about him.
Also, for journalism awards The Washington Post’s Scott Wilson and teams at Politico and the Associated Press are winners of its 2012. Since 1991, the WHCA has awarded nearly $600,000 in scholarships. The entire dinner was to give back to the generation of reporters. They also started a program called the school of Media and Public affairs; they started in urban high schools and 10 in DC.
